Scope of Work

Sawantwadi is known for its wooden toys made from Pangara tree wood, paper mache replica of fruits and vegetables, pottery, puppetry and various other local crafts. Many artisans are still patronized by the Royal family in Sawantwadi. In a bid to provide further incentives for their development, Shilpagram was designed and planned as part of the Eco-tourism plan for Sawantwadi, located about 60 km from Goa.

The village includes residential twin and individual cottages, a large landscape area including a pond, an open air amhitheatre, a restaurant serving local cuisine and a demonstration area to exhibit for artisans. Shilpagram is placed on the route of the Deccan Odyssey which frequently brings foreign tourists en-route to Goa.

Project was undertaken by Ar. Roshni Udyavar Yehuda as part of EnviroArch – a partnership firm along with 2 other principal architects – Ar. Rajeev Taishete and Ar. Mukund Porecha
